    "Shell Structures: Theory and Applications"

    October 16-18, 2013, Gdansk, Poland

    The officially appointed place of the Conference is Gdansk University of Technology.

    Already confirmed General Lectures are:

    - H. Altenbach (Germany), Actual developments in the Shell Theory - state of the art and new applications

    - D. Chapelle (France), 3D-shell mathematical models and finite elements: from mathematical and physical insight to application examples

    - Y. Huang (USA), Application of shell and thin film theories to stretchable electronics

    - I. Kreja (Poland), Non-linear Finite Element Analysis of composite panels

    All accepted full-text papers will appear in the hard-cover volume of Proceedings published by CRC Press / Balkema (Taylor & Francis Group) www.crcpress.com, www.taylorandfrancis.com.

    The participants interested in organizing Thematic Sessions of at least 5 lectures in their area of expertise or interest are kindly asked to submit the proposals of topics.

    Conference topics

    Theory and analysis of plates and shells:

    refined linear and nonlinear models;

    constitutive laws of elastic and inelastic shells;

    plates and shels with internal microstructure;

    smart composite structures;

    membrane and deployable structures;

    hybrid and branched shell structures;

    stability, dynamics, optimization, reliability, sensitivity, damage, limit load analysis;

    inverse problems, etc.

    Numerical analysis of shell structures:

    FEM, BEM, meshfree and other numerical methods;

    computer modeling and simulation;

    analysis of nonstandard problems;

    development of software packages.

    Design and maintenance of shell structures:

    industrial applications in civil, power, mining and mechanical engineering, as well as in automotive, shipbuilding, aerospace and chemical processing industries;

    shell design codes and procedures (e.g. Eurocode);

    shells formfinding, Computer Aided Design;

    case studies of failure problems, etc.

    Special surface-related mechanical problems:

    material and non-material interfaces;

    carbon nano-tubes, fullerenes and graphenes;

    thin micro- and nano-films, biological membranes;

    capillarity, contact problems, growth phenomena, etc.

    The language of the Conference will be English.
