We cordially invite you to submit a contribution to the 1st International Workshop on Variability Support in Information Systems (VarIS 2013), to be held in conjunction with the 25th International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering (CAiSE 2013) in Valencia, Spain, on July 17th, 2013.The VarIS workshop will focus on variability issues in IS not from an isolated point of view, but as an integrated part of a development project.

The overall goal of the workshop is to look at variability issues in a wider perspective, trying to understand not just the techniques and languages that allow capturing and representing IS variability, but also to understand IS variability including, for example, its drivers and economic implications. VarIS will discuss the current state of ongoing research, industry needs, future trends, and practical experiences.

The topics of interest include, but are not restricted to:

Managing variability in IS lifecycle:

- Requirements engineering for variability in IS

- Variability modelling (e.g., software and BP models, data models, IS handbooks)

- Configuring IS artefacts to a particular application context

- Run-time adaptation of IS artefacts

- Evolution of IS artefacts

- Analysing and mining IS artefacts showing variability

- Merging IS artefacts to a configurable artefact

Understanding IS variability:

- Drivers of variability in IS (variability knowledge management)

- Economic impact of variability in IS

- Traceability of variability across different IS artefacts (e.g., requirements and software specifications, process models, test cases, system documentation)

- Visualizing IS artefacts showing variability

- Impact of Variability on IS architectures

Variability in Industrial Practice:

- Case studies and experiments

- Experiences with actual implementations

- Tool and method support to enable variability in IS

- Understandability, maintainability, scalability, and usability of IS modelling artefacts dealing with variability

PUBLISHING

Accepted papers of VarIS workshop will be published in the joint

Springer LNBIP proceedings.
