About the workshop

The International Workshop on Computer-Aided Computer Aided Engineering and Robust Design, provides a forum for discussion of recent developments on modeling, analysis and simulation tools and techniques for the design optimization of mechanical system/components. It is an extension of our earlier international conference on Design and advances in Mechanical Engineering organized in 2011. In this context, this workshop will provide a platform in expressing application trends, progress and future course of computer aided engineering & simulation in robust design of products.

Theme and scope

The workshop focuses and comprehensively discusses the role and usage of computer aided engineering in robust product development. The inevitable role of computer aided engineering is enormous in product development. The workshop helps to build basic ability to evaluate complex mechanical systems from a multitude of perspectives. It takes account of adding ability to apply facts of merit and integrated optimization tools. Also the ability to perform multi-disciplinary trade studies to evaluate design alternatives for functional and structural requirements. The workshop will cover certain degree of knowledge about newer materials like polymers composites and ceramics for structural application.

About the Host Institution

S K P Engineering College, NACC and NBA accredited, is established in the year 1999 and is sponsored by Sri.S.Kuppusaamy Educational Memorial trust with a noble aim of imparting quality education for achieving the highest level of intellectual excellence through innovative research consistently in the field of engineering in an around Tiruvannamalai. It has now blossomed into offering U.G courses in ECE,EEE, MECH, CIVIL, CSE, IT, Aero and P.G Courses in Engineering Design, Applied electronics, VLSI, Power systems, CSE, Structural Engineering and Embedded System. The graduates of this institution have an outstanding carrier in India and abroad. In the aim of promoting research activities the college has established two Center of Excellence in Nano electronics and Virtual and Advanced Design Studies. And the faculties have several national and international publications to their credit.

About the Department

The department of mechanical engineering is established in 2003 and is endowed with well qualified and experienced faculties who are committed to ensure the achievement of outstanding performance. The department offers undergraduates in Mechanical Engineering and post graduate in Engineering Design. The department is accredited by NACC and NBA. A centre for Virtual Advanced Design Studies has been established in the mechanical engineering department aiming to promote research activities in product design and development. Modern facilities are established with the state the art computers and software tools like CATIA, ADAMS, DELMIA, PRO-E, ANSYS, NASTRAN, DYATRAN, PATRAN and SAMCEF to carry out modeling and simulation studies. Two government funded projects worth 25 lakhs and consultancies worth 50 lakhs are in progress in our centre. Various certificate courses like Computer Aided Automotive Product Development are conducted in association with premier automotive industries.

Tiruvannamalai the City of Holiness

The college is situated in a beautiful hillock in Tiruvannamalai district. It is about 185 kms from Chennai and 210 kms from Bangalore. It is also well connected with train services to Katpadi, Chennai and Tirupathi. The climatic condition of the town is moderate and it is a pilgrimage temple city of Tamilnadu. Tiruvannamalai is known for the Annamalaiyar temple which is located at the foot of the Annamalai hill and one amongst the greatest Shiva Temples of India. Sathanur Dam across Thenpennai River is a tourist place near Tiruvannamalai.
