A workshop in COMSNETS 20105-10 January 2010, Bangalore, INDIAVenue: The Chancery Pavillion, Bangalore, IndiaWISARD 2010The fourth annual workshop on “WIreless Systems: Advanced Research and Development” (WISARD 2010) will provide a platform for researchers from both academia and industry to present and discuss high quality research and development in the area of wireless systems.Authors are invited to submit papers presenting new research covering all layers of the protocol stack: physical to application. Submissions must be unpublished, original, and not more than 10 pages in length. They should not be currently under review for publication in any other venue. We especially encourage submissions on wireless/network systems targeted for the developing world. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:Wireless applications and servicesMobility and location managementNetwork topology and architectureSecurity, privacy, anonymityTransport, routing, MAC layer issuesPHY layer techniques for wirelessInformation theory applied to wireless networksCross layer interactions and optimizationsPower management, especially for rural systemsWireless test-beds or real-world deploymentsPerformance analysis and measurementsSensor networks, especially application centricAccepted papers will be included in the workshop proceedings published by IEEE.The workshop will also feature a student poster/demo session, and invited talks from distinguished researchers in the community.Student poster session: The poster session complements the main programme by offering an opportunity for students to present recent on-going or as-yet incomplete research results in the topics listed above. Poster authors are invited to submit a two-page report that summarizes the main idea and results.Research demos: The workshop will have a session on live demos along with the poster session. Authors (especially students) are encouraged to submit proposals for the same. The proposals should not exceed two pages and should include a description of the demo and equipment to be used.Best paper and best poster awards: There will be a best paper award and a best poster award. Both will be judged based on relevance, originality, significance, and presentation.Best student poster/demo award: Student posters and demos will be considered for this award. The award will be based on quality of work, student understanding, and clarity of explanation during the poster/demo session.Invited programme: WISARD 2010 will feature an invited component. Authors of papers in venues such as SIGCOMM, INFOCOM, MOBICOM, ISIT, Globecom, ICC, etc. in the past 1-2 years will be invited to present their work.
