Interested in networking with environmental professionals from all over California? Do you have a research project that you’d like to share? AEP is a non-profit organization of professionals working to improve our skills as environmental practitioners and natural resource managers. AEP is dedicated to the enhancement, maintenance and protection of the natural and human environment. The AEP 2010 Conference Committee invites any graduate or full-time undergraduate student to share his/her research in a student poster competition. Graduate and undergraduate students will be judged in separate competitions that will have the same award structure. Judges will give preference to posters with a unique topic and thorough research.

The Conference Committee welcomes posters covering any of the following suggested topic areas:

? NEPA

? CEQA

? Sustainability

? Noise

? Transportation

? Water Resources

? Energy

? Cultural Resources ? Air Resources & Climate Change

? Environmental Policy

? Community Participation

? Environmental Education

? GIS & Spatial Analysis

? Restoration/Mitigation

? Other Realted Topics

Posters will be judged using the following criteria:

Appearance (10%)

The poster should be attractive and enough space should be left between items to avoid clutter. Text, tables, and figures should be large enough to be easily read from 3 feet away. Avoid unnecessary text and spelling mistakes.

Organization (20%)

The presentation should be logical and should include a title, abstract, introduction, methods, results and discussion, and literature cited.

Originality and Merit (35%)

Posters should display original studies with substantial merit. The objective and hypothesis should be prominent. Data should substantiate the conclusions. The introduction, discussion, and literature cited should establish that the student has a good understanding of the topic.

Presentation (35%)

Students will have 3-5 minutes to present their poster to the judges. Judges may ask students one or two follow-up questions after the presentation.

SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS

Interested students should complete and submit this form, attaching verification of enrollment at an accredited four-year college or university and a one-page abstract describing the subject of the poster presentation. Posters are to be approximately 36˝x48˝ and self-standing.
