    Aims

Various multimedia/video services have emerged on the Internet, e.g., IPTV, P2PTV, web clipping, webcasting, 3D video conferencing, and digital cinema. These services are provided over various networks, from conventional wired IP networks to wireless networks such as Wireless LAN, Wireless MAN, and cellular telephone networks. People use various devices such as PCs, TVs, handheld gaming devices, and smartphones that can access these services. To support the emerging multimedia/video services that are accessed from diverse devices over various networks, it is crucial to better understand the fundamental characteristics of services and the underlying systems; e.g., characterizing service workload and modeling/evaluating system performance. It is also crucial to address how we can monitor and improve end-to-end QoS and user QoE (Quality of Experience) in these services. The primary objectives of this ITC Specialist Seminar are to identify early and future traffic and performance issues and to develop methodologies that address various aspects of traffic and performance in multimedia applications and video services.
