Call For Papers - CFP
Overview: The Internet of Things is rising and already, any firms are taking advantage of the detailed information it can provide. But to do this you must:Understand what it is and how you can use itBe prepared to handle massive amounts of data in real or near-real timeKnow what you'd like to find and how to find itBe prepared to react to what you find immediatelyYou should take the first step now and learn the basics - and hear what early adopters are doing. Hopefully, our examples won't be your competitors, because done right this can be a big competitive advantage. We'll cover both in-house tools and also those from cloud=based service providers - you may find that getting in soon and with limited expense is more important than having completely customized applications. Of course, you can plan for both. Why should you attend: Cutting edge and a sure source of competitive advantage. Almost any kind of business is likely to have a collection of things - customer buying patterns, reports from hardware and software purchased or on trial, competitive date from the marketplace. The issues are scale - these are really big data applications - and how to do the analytics in real or nearly real time. You may not need to buy more hardware - many vendors are going to offer these applications on the cloud so all you need is a way to load your data and an interface to query it. Or you could just let it query itself (pattern searching) and find actionable things you never imagined. The sooner you understand the potential here and equip yourself with the right resources, the sooner your company can reap the benefits.Areas Covered in the Session:Basic of the Internet ThingsTools and ServicesRequired SkillsExamplesWho Will Benefit:IT ManagerMarketing ManagerCloud Manager(s)Speaker Profile:Amy Wohl has been observing, consulting to, and writing about the computer industry for more than 35 years.
