The airport is located 20km to the north-east of the Beijing city-center. The iconic terminal building is intended to be one of the most modern and passenger friendly super-hub facilities in the world, with clear and intuitive layouts, minimal changes of level, and fast transfer times. The airport is easily reached by shuttle (RMB 16) and taxi (RMB 70 to RMB 120). The shuttle, operated by the Civil Aviation Authority, is the most economical way to travel to and from the airport, running every 30 minutes from the airport to various locations in downtown Beijing, and even more frequently from city loctions to the airport. Alternatively, taxis to the city (not including suburbs) are available for approximately RMB 70 (to Sanlitun) and RMB120 (to Tian'anmen). Though taxis in Beijing charge according to a meter, travelers need to pay not only the meter price but also the price of any tolls.TRANSPORTATION IN BEIJINGSubway There are four subway lines in Beijing. Line 1 runs from the western suburb, Pingguoyuan station to the eastern suburb, Sihuidong station. Line 2, the loop line, goes around the central area of Beijing. There is bilingual service notifying the stations of the subway. Line 13 runs from Xizhimen station to Dongzhimen station. Line Batong runs from Sihui station to Tuqiao station. There are signs of the subway stations. The subway opens from about 5:00am to about 11:00pm.Public Transportation The network of public transportation covers the whole city with a relatively cheap price. * Car hire The roof of all the taxis is capped with a symbol of "TAXI".
