IEEE Transactions on Learning TechnologiesSpecial Issue on Intelligent and Innovative Support Systems for CSCLIMPORTANT DATES30/Mar/2010 Submission deadline15/Jun/2010 Authors notification16/Jul/2010 Submission of revisions10/Aug/2010 Final decision11/Sep/2010 Submission of final versionsAIMSComputer鈥怱upported Collaborative Learning (CSCL) is aninterdisciplinary research field that gathers researchers around onecommon goal: to facilitate the designing, conduction, and analysis ofcollaborative learning (CL) activities where students and instructorsare supported by advanced information and communication technologies. The use of technology helps to understand how learning emerges ingroup settings and how to create effective scenarios that enablelearning through interaction, exploration, discussion, andcollaborative knowledge construction. The emergence and widespread adoption of the so鈥恈alled Web 2.0technologies that allow people to collaborate anytime and anywhere atan unprecedented scale have opened numerous new opportunities forCSCL. In addition, technologies based on Artificial Intelligence (AI)have reached the level of maturity that allow for them to besuccessfully applied for supporting collaborative learning ininnovative and intelligent ways.To accomplish the development of innovative and intelligent systemsfor CSCL, we need to rethink what is considered as state鈥?f鈥恡he鈥恆rt inAI technologies and push the research trends in CSCL towards the newgeneration of technologically sophisticated systems/methods capable ofenhancing/improving CL.TOPICSIn this special issue, we invite submissions of papers presentingnovel ideas, critiques of existing works, models, practical studiesand experiments with systems based on innovative technologies in CSCLsettings. We especially encourage papers that enhance current CSCLsystems in architectural, technological, and philosophical levels andstimulate the exploration of new directions of applying AI and Web 2.0in the context of CSCL research. Topics of interest include, but arenot limited to:鈥?Architectures, frameworks and systems for CSCL鈥ools and languages to support CSCL scripts鈥eb 2.0 technologies applied in CSCL鈥nnovative ways for analyzing students鈥?interactions鈥ew approaches for group/individual assessment鈥ser modeling, personalization and adaptation for CSCL鈥emantic Web technologies to support CL鈥everaging Social Semantic Web in CL鈥ntelligent (authoring/tutoring) systems for CL鈥gent and multi鈥恆gent technology for CL鈥ata mining in CSCL context鈥istributed systems to support CL鈥ovel user interfaces to support CLSUBMISSIONAuthors should follow the author guidelines athttp://www2.computer.org/portal/web/tlt/author
