The workshop is organized by the Multimedia Signal Processing Technical Committee of the IEEE Signal Processing Society. The focus theme for this workshop is entertainment, gaming and virtual reality for the future. Everyday services at home and away, gaming and entertainment are more and more interconnected with multimedia systems and applications and have a bigger than ever part in our lives. Virtual and augmented reality, haptics and sensor networks are transforming this field and will deeply modify our perception and interaction with these future services and appliances. What are the new challenges for multimedia signal processing in this context, what are the emerging applications, and what theoretical tools will produce the next breakthroughs?. Papers are solicited in the above workshop theme, including (but not limited to) the following topics, covering the general scope of the multimedia signal processing :Virtual reality and 3D imagingHaptic technology and interactionMultimodal interfaces and brain-computer interfacesBio-inspired multimedia signal processingDistributed multimedia systemsImplementations in portable/wearable systemsMultimedia peer-to-peer communicationsCross-layer design for multimedia communicationsJoint processing of modalitiesMultimedia databases and digital librariesSensor information fusionIntegration of media, art and multimedia technologyMultimedia security and content protectionDistributed source and source-channel coding6th IEEE Sensor Array and Multichannel Signal Processing Workshop (SAM2010)
