    SCOPE & OBJECTIVES

Service-oriented Computing and Internet Technologies have made a huge impact both on the software industry and on the research community. Today, these technologies are applied to build large-scale software landscapes as well as to provide single software services to end users.

Still, the work on the (efficient) usage of distributed computational resources using Service-oriented Computing and Internet Technologies is ongoing. Different major trends have appeared in the area in recent years: The need for agile and flexible IT systems has led to the rise of Cloud Computing as the dominating paradigm for provisioning computational resources in a scalable, on-demand fashion. In fact, Service-oriented Computing has gained additional momentum by the advent of Cloud Computing, which provides both private persons and large companies with the means to lease computational resources in a utility-like manner. As another major trend, the Internet of Things (IoT) has recently gained tremendous attention, with Service-oriented Computing as the underlying paradigm for the realization of the IoT. Also, new topics like microservices and fog computing appear but have not reached the mainstream yet. Last but not least, Service-oriented Computing is one of the key enablers for Smart Systems like Smart Grids, Smart Factories ("Industry 4.0") and Smart Cities.

This special session aims to bring together related research works in the realm of Service-oriented Computing and Internet Technologies, including Cloud and IoT technologies and application areas for Service-oriented Computing and Internet Technologies. We aim at a program providing the audience with the many facets of Service-oriented Computing and Internet Technologies, including cross-cutting concerns and interdisciplinary considerations. Both basic research as well as applications of Service-oriented Computing and Internet Technologies will be regarded.
