simula.no Description: We are currently on the brink of a revolutionary transformation from stand-alone embedded systems to ubiquitous cyber-physical systems (CPS) that bridge the virtual world of computing and communications and the real world. In particular, there is a trend to build CPS upon wireless and mobile networks as a consequence of unprecedented proliferation of these technologies in recent years. In addition to wireless sensors and actuators, the number of mobile devices that can support wirelessly networked cyber-physical applications has exploded. Ubiquitous applications and services enabled by mobile CPS are opening up great opportunities for improving the quality of our daily life. To fully explore the potential of mobile CPS, however, significant challenges are yet to be overcome. MobiCPS 2010 is an international forum for researchers and practitioners to present innovative ideas and results on all aspects of mobile cyber-physical systems, including theoretical foundations, techniques and methods, tools and platforms, prototypes, and practical applications.
