Call for PapersWorkshop on Knowledge Management and Business IntelligenceThe 20th International Conference on Multiple Criteria Decision MakingChendu/Jiuzhaigou¡ê¬China¡ê¬June 21, 2009Workshop Chairs: Prof Gil-Sang Jang, Prof Jongwon Lee,Prof Heeseok LeeRecently, businesses that could capture the knowledge embedded in theirorganization would own the future. Organizations that isolate knowledgemanagement risk losing its benefits. Companies have attempted a variety ofefforts that go under the name of knowledge management. KnowledgeManagement (KM) helps organizations identify, select, organize, disseminate, and transfer knowledge and expertise that typically reside within the organizationin an unstructured manner. Managing knowledge enables effective businessproblem solving, dynamic learning, strategic planning, and decision making. In order to support KM practices, many researchers have emphasizedinnovative systems of managing knowledge. Among them, Business intelligence(BI) refers to technologies, applications, and practices for the collection, integration, analysis, and presentation of business knowledge. The primarypurpose of BI is to support better business decision making. BI systems providehistorical, current, and predictive views of business operations, most often usingdata that has been gathered into a data warehouse or a data mart andoccasionally working from operational data.It is strongly believed that KM and BI would be able to sharpen importantissues in the field of MCDM fields. In order to promote business intelligence andknowledge management research, we organize a special workshop dedicated tothe topic of ¡¡ãKnowledge Management and Business Intelligence¡¡À under the 20thInternational Conference on Multiple Criteria Decision Making(http://www.mcdm2009.cn/default.html
