    Call For Papers - CFP

Welcome to DSAI 2012. The 4th International Conference on Software Development for Enhancing Accessibility and Fighting Info-exclusion (DSAI 2012) will take place in July 19-22, 2012, in the Douro Region, Portugal, with the support of the Northern Region Coordination Commission.

Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) play a major role in our lives. However, ICT development which is indifferent to the concerns of social inclusion may raise barriers and increase the gap between the average user and those with special needs, instead of contributing to eliminating this gap and promoting equal rights and opportunities for all.

Senior citizens and others with special needs are often faced with multiple minor disabilities that prevent them from enjoying the benefits of technology and higher quality of life standards. According to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, technology design should take into account accessibility and usability features for the protection and promotion of the human rights of persons with disabilities, in all policies and programmes.

We invite authors to submit papers in the following and related areas:

    PAPER SUBMISSION

Papers reporting original research results and experiences are solicited. Each paper, written in English, should have no more than 8 pages, including references and illustrations. Electronic submissions in accessible PDF electronic format are strongly recommended. All submissions must describe original research, not published nor currently under review for another conference or journal. The scientific committee will referee all papers, and accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings.

The high conference peer-review standards allowed the indexation of DSAI conference proceedings since 2009 edition (DSAI 2010 proceedings where submitted for Thomson ISI indexation). The same process will apply to the 2012 edition.

Best papers authors will be invited to submit an extension to a SPECIAL ISSUE of the UNIVERSAL ACCESS IN THE INFORMATION SOCIETY (http://www.springer.com/computer/hci/journal/10209) INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL INDEXED BY THOMSON REUTERS JCR (http://science.thomsonreuters.com/cgi-bin/jrnlst/jlchange.cgi?Full=Universal+Access+in+the+Information+Society).
