    Call For Papers - CFP

The Inaugural Biomarker Discovery Conference (BDC 2010)

... will be held from Monday December 6 - Friday December 10, 2010, in the Shoal Bay Resort and Spa, beachfront on magnificent Shoal Bay, Port Stephens NSW Australia.

The 21st century has seen a revolution in biology and medicine that will radically change the way we monitor health and diagnose disease. Central to this revolution: a multidisciplinary approach to the evolving science of biomarker discovery and identification. BDC 2010 showcases the latest innovations in Biomarker Discovery using genomic, proteomic and metabolomic tools and methods.

Join us at the inaugural meeting and be part of a group of people who will drive the innovation of this research area and clinical practice. Attendees will network with world leaders in novel data analytic techniques for biomarker identification from high-throughput technologies. With cross disciplinary speakers we anticipate envigorating and mutually informing interdisciplinary discussions, new collaborations and an excellent opportunity to be inspired for the approaching grant-writing season!

We have booked the unique Shoal Bay Resort & Spa with the idea of encouraging relaxed and informal interludes between intense scientific presentations and lively discussion. A dolphin-watching trip is planned for Thursday afternoon and accompanying family members are welcome to join the cruise visiting the pod of Dolphins which live in the Port and frolic with the boats.

Major themes of cancer and neurodegenerative diseases systems and the biology of cancer and neurodegeneration focus on attempts to discover and exploit biomarker signatures for clinical applications are progressed through plenary, symposium and poster presentations. However, all top-quality abstracts and posters that will enrich the perspectives on novel methods for biomarker discovery, their identification and subsequent validation are welcomed.

Integrated Workshops will provide a very practical help in the discovery, analysis and application of this emerging branch of the biological sciences. Topics include: bioinformatic approaches that can uncover the signal behind the noise in data; practical approaches in diagnostics, including microbiology. Vibrant Poster sessions and an informal evening session for students and post docs will allow the in-depth discussion of topics not necessarily addressed in plenary or symposium sessions due to time constraints.
