Call For Papers - CFP
Soft computing Technology includes aspects of computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, evolutionary based methods and tools. Most frequently, soft computing technology methods are employed on complex and computationally intensive problems that have traditionally proved intractable for conventional analysis methods. The key areas of soft computing covered by this conference include, but are not limited to:Neural networksFuzzy systemsGenetic algorithmsAnt colony optimizationEvolutionary methodsSimulated annealingHarmony searchCellular automataSwarm intelligenceBayesian networksChaos theoryData miningExpert systemsSupport vector machinesHybrid optimization algorithmsPredator-preyResponse surfacesPolynomial chaosArtificial immune systems and immune computingPapers describing recent developments in the above techniques may be submitted to the conference.Application AreasPapers describing the application of the above techniques to all branches of civil, structural and environmental engineering may be presented at the conference. The areas of application include, but are not limited to:advances in soft computing technologyartificial simulation applicationsnew trends in numerical methods and solution strategiesparallel and grid computing technologiesstructural mechanics and designmesh and grid generationwater engineering and hydraulicsstructural computational mechanicsinverse structural engineeringmulti-scale simulation and failure mechanicsstochastic mechanics, robustness and reliabilitystructural and multidisciplinary optimizationlife-cycle cost analysis and performance-based designstructural dynamics and controlcoupled and interaction problemswave propagation and soil dynamicsstructural earthquake and geotechnical engineeringcomputational geosciences, geostatistics and geoenvironmental engineeringdamage analysis and vulnerability assessmenthealth monitoring and maintenance systemsrepair and retrofit of structures and infrastructuressmart structures and materialsbiomechanical mechanisms and structuresrisk analysis and decision makingproject management and operations research engineeringThe conference runs concurrently with the The Thirteenth International Conference on Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering Computing. Participants may attend sessions from either conference.Young Researcher Best Paper CompetitionTo encourage young researchers to attend the conference a 1000 Euro Young Researcher Best Paper Prize will be awarded to the best paper presented at the conference. To read the full terms and conditions of this competition, please click here.Special SessionsA number of special sessions will be organised at this Conference. Papers may be submitted directly to the Conference Editor or via the special session organisers if you wish to participate in their session. Over the coming months the list of special sessions will gradually grow. Please visit this page regularly to keep up to date. Please also note the important dates. To be announcedProposals for the organisation of a special session on your specialist topic including ten to sixteen papers and an optional special lecture are welcome. Proposals for special sessions may be sent to the conference editors via conf2011 AT civil-comp.comConference Editorial BoardThe Conference Editors are Professor Yiannis Tsompanakis (Technical University of Crete, Greece) and Professor Barry H.V. Topping (Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK and University of Pécs, Hungary). The members of the editorial board for this conference are to be announced.Conference ProceedingsThe conference proceedings which will be available on the first day of the conference will be published by Civil-Comp Press.A selection of extended reviewed versions of the best papers will be published in special issues of Computers & Structures and Advances in Engineering Software. The procedure for submitting papers for these journal special issues will be available at the conference. (Only papers presented at the conference are eligible for special issue publication.)Important DatesPlease take note of these important dates when planning your participation to this conference:Abstract submission 1 December 2010Full paper deadline as advised by the editor in your abstract acceptance emailLast day for author registrations 1 July 2011Programme is released 15 August 2011The conference 6-9 September 2011Conference VenueThe venue for the conference is Minoa Palace Resort & Spa , Platanias, GR-73014 Chania, Crete, Greece.
