Research Student Workshop9th January, 2011, Las Vegas, Nevadahttp://www.cs.tut.fi/~jakubiak/cfp/
Satellite Workshop of 8th IEEE Consumer Communications & Networking Conference(IEEE CCNC 2011)The Consumer Communications and Network Conference (CCNC) Research Student Workshop attracts submissions and participants from the full range of CCNC interests. It is organized by IEEE members themselves actively engaged in research and study. The venue offers a possibility for researchers, and especially research students, to present and discuss part or the whole of their research topic in an inspiring atmosphere with their peers and experts from industry and academia. The workshop is held in conjunction with the IEEE Communications Society's flagship CCNC 2011 conference.Participants have the opportunity to present the topic of their research, progress so far, the structure of future work and the state of hypothesis development and testing. This makes the workshop particularly suitable for post-graduate students as a doctorial consortium, although it is open to all submissions following a structured study approach. Topics of interest are similar to those of the CCNC 2010 main conference including, but not limited to:Consumer networks (wide area, local, soho and home networks)Enabling technologies (platforms, middleware, open source, interoperability and technology reuse)Pervasive applications and services (including multi-device affective and ubiquitous computing)Overlay networks and federated systems (e.g. P2P, IM, application layer multicast)Communications for distributed computing (e.g. cloud storage, GRID)Security and trust in communicationsConsumer communications behaviour and modellingNetwork modeling and simulation, and the impact of architecture and usersPerformance evaluation (of communications systems and applications)Papers are selected based not only on their novel contribution, but also the clarity and quality of research topic outline and approach discussion.Guidelines for SubmissionSubmissions shall be in the form of a 3 page extended abstract. The format of submissions is three pages in IEEE double column style (US letter 8.5" x 11"). Submissions must adhere to the IEEE conference proceedings template. (Note, using LaTeX eliminates many formating problems. Inserting figures using the Word template may require switching to the "normal" text style). Templates are available online.Papers should be submitted in PDF format via the EDAS paper submission website by selecting the workshop submission link.Workshop WebsiteFor more information please see the workshop website.Important DatesPaper Submission: 24 August 2010Author Notification: 15 September 2010Camera-ready Copy: 1 October 2010Workshop date: 9 January 2011Workshop Co-ChairsJakub Jakubiak, Tampere University of Technology, Finland, jakubiak [at] cs.tut.fiRod Walsh, Nokia Research Center, Tampere, Finland, rod.walsh [at] nokia.com
