    International Workshop on Mobile Collaborative Augmented Reality

    In Conjunction with IEEE ISMAR2010

    Wed, Oct. 13 - Sat, Oct. 16, 2010 COEX, Seoul, Korea

    Augmented reality (AR) is a direct or indirect view of real world scenes in which physical objects are annotated with, or overlaid by computer generated graphics. The past two decades have seen a fast growing body of research and development dedicated to techniques and technologies for AR.

    In particular, advances in hardware and networking have made possible a wide use of mobile collaborative AR. However, simply putting those hardware and technologies together does not make a “good” system for end users to use. Systems of mobile collaborative AR involve multi-modal interaction between individuals, which requires special consideration of the role of human factors. Further, such systems are often built to be used in dynamical environments in which many factors are unpredictable. Environmental constraints pose additional challenges on system design and evaluation.

    Conventional desktop and single-user based design principles and evaluation methods are often limited. New design principles and evaluation methods specific to this emerging area are urgently needed to keep up with of the advance in technologies.

    This workshop aims to bring industrial and academic researchers together and to provide a platform to foster discussions among participants on the current state of art and future directions for mobile or/and collaborative AR. The workshop will be held on October 13, 2010 in Seoul, Korea, in conjunction with ISMAR2010.

    Proceedings

    Submitted papers will be peer-reviewed by our highly regarded international program committee members.

    Accepted papers will be included in the workshop proceedings published by the Springer as Book Chapters.

    Scope and Topics

    We solicit high quality research and position papers that address any issues that can be related to design, development, application and evaluation of mobile or/and collaborative AR systems. The specific topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

    * Interfaces, systems and applications

    * Lessons learned and experience obtained from designing, developing, deploying or evaluating mobile/collaborative AR systems

    * Case studies, human factors, evaluation methods and metrics

    * Design principles and interaction methods

    * Surveys

    Important Dates

    Deadline for submissions: August 29, 2010

    Notification of acceptance: September 7, 2010

    Early registration deadline: September 9, 2010

    Workshop: October 13, 2010

    Submissions

    We will accept either research papers containing unpublished results, or position papers outlining the author's relevant experience and ideas that may contribute to the discussion during the workshop.

    Due to the time limit, you may submit a reasonable version in a format and a length of your option first for review. If accepted, you will have chance to improve and extend your paper until a few days after the workshop. Detailed instructions on the paper format for the camera-ready version will be provided as well.

    All the submissions should be submitted electronically as PDF documents to the workshop contacts listed below.

    You are also welcome to contact us directly to discuss your intention to attend the workshop and your plan to submit a paper.
