Call For Papers - CFP
The advancement of personal computing devices, from personal computers to mobile devices, has been gradually changing the landscape of the technology-transformed learning. This facilitates the incorporation of one-to-one computing into education and opens up endless possibilities of the design and enactment of innovative teaching and learning models (or the enhancement of pre-existing models), such as perpetual and ubiquitous learning, personalized learning, authentic and contextualized learning, seamless learning, rapid knowledge co-construction, among others. This leads to the further empowerment of the learners in deciding what, where, when, and how they would learn, and whom they would learn with/from. After the initial hype, however, there have been voices within the researcher community to reassess the notion of one-to-one computing in classroom and informal learning, such as whether one-to-one settings may impact peer collaboration and teachers' roles, the issues of student and social readiness, as well as the explorations of alternative or hybrid settings of many-to-one, one-to-many, many-to-many, and one-to-one configurations. The aim of this workshop is to provide a forum where international participants can share knowledge, experiences and concerns on the one-to-one technology-enhanced learning (TEL) and explore directions for future research collaborations.Basic Themes and Topics (but not restricted to):Theories behind one-to-one TELOne-to-one TEL pedagogy and learning designConstructions of one-to-one TEL infrastructureGovernment and school policies for one-to-one TELSocio-cultural perspectives and implications of one-to-one TELTeachers’ professional development for translation and scaling up of one-to-one TEL modelsOne-to-one TEL for self-directed, collaborative and socio-constructivist learningSeamless learning: Theories, infrastructure, pedagogy, practices, parental and community factorsOne-to-one TEL on special platforms, e.g., GroupScribbles, Web 2.0 toolsIssues in one-to-one TEL in computer lab settings (e.g., labs with One-to-one access Personal Computers)Comparative studies between one-to-one, many-to-one, one-to-many, many-to-many and/or hybrid settingsWorkshop Co-ChairsChee-Kit Looi, National Institute of Education, SingaporeHiroaki Ogata, University of Tokushima, JapanLung-Hsiang Wong, National Institute of Education, SingaporeInternational Program Committee MembersTak-Wai Chan, National Central University, TaiwanNian-Shing Chen, National Sun Yat-Sen University, TaiwanWeiqin Chen, University of Bergens, NorwayWenli Chen, National Institute of Education, SingaporeKwok-Shing Cheng, Hong Kong Institute of Education, Hong KongHui-Chun Chu, National Tainan University, TaiwanPierre Dillenbourg, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, SwitzerlandUlrich Hoppe, University of Duisburg-Essen, GermanyGwo-Jen Hwang, National Tainan University, TaiwanKinshuk, Athabasca University, CanadaSiu-Cheung Kong, Hong Kong Institute of Education, Hong KongAgnes Kukulska-Hulme, The Open University, United KingdomYu-Ju Lan, National Taiwan Normal University, TaiwanChiu-Pin Lin, National Hsinchu University of Education, TaiwanChen-Chung Liu, National Central University, TaiwanMarcelo Milrad, Linnaeus University, SwedenMike Sharples, University of Nottingham, United KingdomElliot Soloway, University of Michigan, United States of AmericaHiroyuki Tarumi, Kagawa University, JapanChengjiu Yin, Kyushu University, JapanBaohui Zhang, National Institute of Education, SingaporeImportant DatesSubmission deadline for workshop paper: August 27, 2010Acceptance notification of workshop paper: September 23, 2010Final version deadline for workshop paper: October 8, 2010Paper FormatThe maximum page length is 8 pages and the format follows the template in Author Guidelines of ICCE 2010 (http://www.icce2010.upm.edu.my/author_guide.html
