Call For Papers - CFP
Call for Book Chapters Evolved Cellular Network Planning and Optimization for UMTS and LTE (to bepublished by Auerbach Publications, CRC Press, Taylor & Francis Group, 2009)*Introduction*Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) is one of thethird-generationcell phone technologies, which uses W-CDMA and TD-SCDMA as the underlyingair interfaces. As an upgrade, High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA) networks leadto a better utilization of the existing radio bandwidth provided by UMTS.Further still, Long Term Evolution (LTE) describes standardization work bythe Third Generation Partnership Project to define a new high-speed radioaccess method for mobile communications systems. Network planning andoptimization faces many challenges arising from the use of new airinterfaces and new technologies (e.g., MIMO, smart antennas, cooperativerelay), the mix of voice, video and data traffic, the co-existence ofdifferent RATs (Radio Access Technologies), the growing importance of indoorcoverage and paradigm shifts (e.g., femtocells). The future wirelessnetworks cannot operate efficiently, unless these challenges are properlyaddressed. Unfortunately, in the current book market on network planning andoptimization most books are about GSM and WCDMA networks. For HSPA and LTE,books that could advise network planning and optimization are very limited.Specially, problems on network inter-operation and multi-operatorcompatibility are looking for urgent and efficient solutions due to theco-existence of many standards.*Recommended Topics (not limited to)*Topics of interest relating to HSPA and LTE network planning andoptimization are (but not limited to):- Overview of network deployment, planning and optimization options forUMTS and LTE- RF planning and optimization- Pre-launch and post-launch optimization- Automatic radio network planning and optimization methods- The use of measurements in radio network planning and optimisation- Radio resource management (RRM)- Self-optimization and self-healing techniques- Core network planning and optimization- Capacity and coverage planning and optimization- Data/voice/video service optimization- Radio network planning and optimization reference scenarios- New system simulation and performance evaluation methods- High performance computing in network planning and optimization- Heterogeneous wireless networks (UMTS/HSPA/LTE/WiFi/WiMAX/DVB) planningand optimization- Cooperative relay in UMTS/HSPA/LTE networks- Planning and optimization for Femtocell*Important Dates*You are invited to submit a 1-2 pages proposal describing the topic of yourchapter. The proposal should include the chapter summary, table of content, and contact authors. Ideally, each chapter should has about 35 pages with 12font size, double-space format.Proposal Deadline: 31, Dec 2008Notification of proposal acceptance: 31 Jan 2009Full chapter submission: 30 Apr 2009Review report received: 31 June 2009Final version submission: 31 Aug. 2009Proposals should be emailed to Dr. Lingyang Song (lingyangs.song
