    It is with great pleasure that I accept the role of “Honorary Chair” of the Ninth International Symposium on In Vivo Body Composition Studies, and I sincerely welcome you to join us in Hangzhou, China to gain deeper insight into the field of body composition. The impact of this conference will be far-reaching in both China and the world.

    IBC 2011 will focus on the clinical implications and ethnic diversity of body composition, covering 12 sessions including nutrition and diet, physical activity, exercise and

    lifestyle, among others, all of which are important in the prevention and intervention of chronic diseases. Chronic disease has become the most important health risk factor in China and the present epidemic could lead to dire consequences in our nation. There is a desperate need for a lifestyle revolution in China.

    IBC 2011 will feature cutting-edge researchers who will not only reveal their latest research developments, but who will also provide new and effective advice on the prevention and intervention of chronic diseases.
