5th Annual IEEE International Systems ConferenceApril 4 - 11, 2011Montreal, Quebec, CanadaConference ThemeThe theme of the IEEE International Systems Conference is Engineering of Complex Systems, to include Systems-of-systems, Systems Engineering, Systems Integration, and Systems Thinking.BackgroundThe IEEE Systems Council facilitates interactions among communities of interest on system-level problems and applications. System-level thinking is essential in the world today, not only for technical systems but also for society at large. The Council addresses the discipline of systems engineering, including the issues and complexities of system-level and system-of-systems applications, focusing on the total systems effectiveness of complex integrated systems of national and global significance.Conference ObjectivesThis conference seeks to create an interactive forum for the advancement of the practice of systems engineering across the multiple disciplines and specialty areas associated with the engineering of complex systems. The conference will provide a venue for systems engineering practitioners, managers, researchers, and educators to exchange innovative concepts, ideas, applications, and lessons learnedaddressing:* Applications-oriented topics on large-scale systems and system-of-systemsin topics noted below* Systems engineering, education, standards, processes and methodologies forthe system-of-systems environment* Research opportunities and results relating to system-of-systemsTopic areas for consideration include:* System architecture* Engineering systems of systems* Risk management of complex systems environment* Systems reliability* Engineering Processes for complex systems* Service Oriented Architecture* Comprehensive Cyber Security approaches* Enterprise System Engineering* Agile Development Methods of System of Systems* Systems engineering quality management* Modeling & simulation* Systems Verification and Validation* Systems engineering education and training* Program/Project management for complex systems* “Systems thinking” benefits* Technology transfer between academia and industry* Societal and Political impacts of systems and systems design* The impact of systems engineering on other engineering fields* Cyber Security approaches and strategy* Systems Engineering in the Enterprise Environment* Diagnostics, Prognostics, and Enterprise Health Management* Research in Systems Engineering* Virtualization and Cloud Computing for the Enterprise* Enterprise Security Management* Robust Multi Security Domain Enterprise Systems* Software Systems Engineering* Information Discovery, Retrieval and Dissemination in SoS* Interoperability and Information Sharing through Secure Data Tagging andlabeling* Special Session: "Biometrics Privacy: Technology and Applications"* Systems considerations such as:* Autonomous Systems* Energy management & sustainability, including renewable energy* Space & Communications systems* Medical systems* Gaming and entertainment systems* Transportation Systems* Sensors integration and Application for a Net-centric environment* Disaster response* Global Earth Observation* Large-scale systems integration in any application area**Proposals for Special Sessions are welcome. We invite authors to submit an extended abstract of 3-4 pages in length. Theextended abstract should summarize the scope of the paper and the primaryresults and findings, emphasizing new advances, theories and/or applicationsso that the program committee will be able to understand the originality andthe value of the work. Abstracts should be submitted electronically to theEDAS Website at http://www.edas.info
. Please submit to IEEE SysCon 2010. Tosimplify abstract slotting to Tracks, authors will be limited to selectingone topic only from the listing above. If the abstract does not fit any ofthe topic areas listed above, there will be an “other” option.
