Call For Papers - CFP
Journal of Computer Science and Technology(http://jcst.ict.ac.cn) Special Issue on Community Analysis and Information RecommendationCall for PapersOver the last few years, we have witnessed atremendous growth in online social networkservices (SNS), such as Facebook, Twitter, andDel.icio.us, which greatly facilitate thecollaboration, sharing, and other interactionsbetween individuals. The term Web 2.0 has beencoined to embrace all those new collaborativeservices or applications and also to indicate anew “social” approach to generating anddistributing Web content, characterized by opencommunication, decentralization of authority, personalized information seeking or filtering, and wisdom of crowd. On one hand, theever-increasing social network services providelarge-scale social data for the analysis of userbehavior, and then improving the existingservices. On the other hand, they also bring forthmore severe information overload and requiremore flexible and robust computing platforms orservice paradigms.Generally, social network services mainly focuson the two kinds of user needs, social needs andinformation needs. Community is the typicaloutcome of users’ social need and has practicallybecome the brands of social network services. The research on community has become animportant focus of social network analysis. Asthe prevalence of SNS, numerous so-calleduser-generated-content (UGC) are available atthe unprecedented level. UGC provides data forthe analysis and understanding for users’behavior and thus is valuable to theimprovement of existing services. This bringsforth a great deal of research issues, includingquery log analysis, folksonomy, and so on. As tousers’ information needs, information overloadposes a big challenge to the success of SNS. Asan important approach for information filtering, recommendation is usually adopted in industrialand academia. Differently from traditionalrecommendation, social and economic factorsplay a critical role in the social network services.Another emerging direction for SNS is mobileSNS, which transform the platform from Internetto mobile environments. Finally, the enablingcomputing platform, e.g., data centers, plays anessential role in the success of SNS. For example,Facebook will have 40TB new data added totheir database every week, and these data arehighly shared among users, how to build a reliable and efficient data center to support thefast growing of data and population is not onlyan interesting but also a challenge faced by thecommunity. This special issue shall concentrate on recentresearch in these areas and thus solicits researcharticles on community analysis and informationrecommendation, including but not limited to:? Evolution and Dynamics of informationnetwork and social network? Temporal and community evolution? Social network analysis and communityanalysis? Social Network Services and Social-OrientedComputing? Mobile social network services? Social reputation and recommendationsystems? Context-aware and multi-dimensionalrecommendation techniques? Evaluation of recommendation approaches?
