Call For Papers - CFP
The 19 th European Symposium on Artificial Neural Networks is a majorevent for researchers in the fields of artificial neural networks, machine learning, computational intelligence and related topics. Itwill be held in Bruges (Belgium) from April 27-29, 2011. This year theprogram committee has decided to include a special session on kernelmethods for structured data in the conference program.Call for Papers"Kernel Methods for Structured Data" - ESANN'11 Special Session. In many applications areas, such as biology, chemistry, naturallanguage processing (just to name a few), data are represented instructured form. Among all learning algorithms, kernel methods cannaturally deal with any type of input data, provided an appropriatesimilarity function, the kernel function, has been defined on any pairof objects of the domain. Recently, there has been an increasinginterest in the research community in kernel functions for structureddata (strings, trees, relational data just to name a few examples) andparticularly in kernels for graphs. However, due to the typical veryhigh dimensionality of such data, finding the right trade-off betweenexpressiveness and computational complexity poses severe challenges. This special session looks for original contributions to the topic(particular emphasis on kernels for graphs), as well as significantapplications of kernel methods to structured data.Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):- Kernel algorithms for structured data- Kernel functions for strings, trees, graphs and generally any nonvectorial data- Efficient kernels or learning algorithms- Significant applications of kernel methods to structured datasetsWe kindly invite you to submit a paper to the special session. Please note that this invitation does not guarantee that yoursubmission will be accepted: each paper will undergo to a rigorouspeer reviewing process.Paper submission should be done exclusively through the ESANN portal(http://www.dice.ucl.ac.be/esann/index.php?pg=submission
). Thesubmission deadline is the same as the one for regular papers, that isNovember 24, 2010.The deadline for notification of acceptance is January, 18, 2011.Please notice that the authors of accepted papers should register (andpay the registration fee) as any other participant to the conference. If you have any questions concerning the special session, please donot hesitate to contact us (see email address below).More information about the Conference Program, accommodationfacilities and registration fees is available on the ESANN website(http://www.dice.ucl.ac.be/esann
