We have the pleasure of inviting you to the international conference organized by Department of Middle and Far East Studies, Jagiellonian University in Krakow and School of American and International Studies, Ramapo College of New Jersey. This conference will focus on "Political Socialization and the Emerging Political Actors in the Middle East" and will take place in Kraków, Poland on the 18th -20th of May 2011.The prime objective of the conference is to analyze interactions between new institutions of a modern state and traditional structures and values, as well as state-society relations at the level of political relations. We would like to address such phenomena as modernized state’s politics, education, youth activism and mobilization, and new elites in the Middle East.Following a day of optional excursions, the Conference will open with a plenary session and reception on the evening of Wednesday, 18 May 2011. Over the course of the next two days scholarly papers will be delivered before an audience of scholars, academics, and experts in a wide range of fields.
