The New Urbanism is a vision that is becoming a reality in a few new communities. New Urbanism claims to offer a real, smart growth method of town and city planning that will repair cities and make them the livable, vital things they once were. New Urbanism and smart growth involves much more than light rail transportation. Planners, governments, and smart growth advocates around the world are talking about a more comprehensive transportation overhaul, one that includes mass transit betweenand within cities and bicycle and pedestrian traffic. The key here is less reliance on cars only and stronger relationships between transportation systems and the communities themselves. You are cordially invited to submit abstracts for the New Urbanism & Smart Transport, which can focus on ”current project or planning activities, research findings, emerging issues, or best practices related to the interface between New Urbansim and Smart Transport and cover a range of topics: Smart Growth and Urban DesignSustainability and InnovationDemographic Change IssuesInfrastructure and SustainabilityTransport system Planning and RequirementsIntegrated Land Use & Transportation PlanningTransportation and Growth ManagementInnovation Solution in Planning, Design and ConstructionActivity Centres and integrated developmentSustainable Low and Higher Density DevelopmentIncreased Community Livability, Traffic Safety and HealthHousing Diversity and AffordabilityTransportation Choice, Options and Increased AccessibilityIncorporation of Efficiency and Amenity Features in Multiple Private DevelopmentsSustainable Practices in Road ManagementRoad InfrastructureSustainable Road Safety MeasuresVehicle Travel Reduction TargetsStructure of governance within cities and regions.
