In conjunction with ICASE 2011 (http://www.ftrai.org/icase2011
) Introduction In recent years, autonomic computing has gained extensive interest from various areas, including computer systems, architecture, databases, machine learning and control theory. Many commercial products such as IBM's SMART and Micrososft's AutoAdmin also began to rely on self-management and other autonomic computing techniques. Many conferences and workshops devoted to autonomic computing were held. Despite these efforts, autonomics is still an emerging research area and needs to be studied both in theory and practice. The 1 st workshop on on Principles and Practices of Autonomic Software Systems aims at bringing together researchers and practitioners across various disciplines to address a wide range of issues in autonomic computing. It will be held in conjunction with ICASE-11 International Conference on Advanced Software Engineering (http://www.ftrai.org/icase2011
). Topics of Interest Papers are solicited from all areas of autonomic computing, including - Architectures, techniques and frameworks of autonomic computing - Theory and Science of self-managing systems - Toolkits and application frameworks in autonomic computing - New applications of autonomics to real-world problems - Experience with existing systems - Autonomics in software systems, QoS management, autonomic web services Paper Submission Every submitted paper will be carefully reviewed by at least three members of the Program Committee. All accepted papers will be included in the conference proceeding published by IEEE Press and will be included in the IEEE Xplorer. Authors should submit a paper with 4-6 pages in length (Max. 8 pages, extra charges for two pages) by using online systems for review. Submission of a paper should be regarded as a commitment that, if the paper be accepted, at least one of the authors will register and attend the conference. Otherwise papers will be removed from IEEE digital library. During the workshop, each paper will have a slot of 30 minutes, with 20-25 minutes presentation.
