    Call For Papers - CFP

The First International Workshop on Agent Technology for Cooperative Distributed Systems (CDS)

    Call for papers

Cooperative distributed systems (CDS) approach is a promising design paradigm that is suitable for many applications such as healthcare, virtual enterprises, e-business and tele-learning in which entities have some degree of authority to sharing their capabilities.

Due to the distributed nature of applications based on the CDS approach, an entity may not be available or known when needed. Although these systems are independently created and administered, they usually need to work together to accomplish individual or social tasks.

The dynamic and distributed nature of the entities participating in different CDS environments requires that they be able to change their configuration according to their roles. The challenge here is how to adopt a technology that provides means and mechanisms by which these entities would be able to interact with each other to achieve a local or a common global goal. Such interaction is characterized by the non-determinism aspect and the dynamic nature of the environment where these entities exist and operate. These requirements could not be met using traditional ways of manually configuring software.

Agent-orientation has become an appropriate design paradigm for modeling open, distributed, and heterogeneous environments in which an agent should be able to operate as part of a community of cooperative distributed systems environments including human users.

Within this context, this workshop can help bring together researchers and developers from academia and industry sectors to share and exchange novel ideas, explore the inherent challenges in developing Agent-based Applications, investigate novel designs, explore enabling technologies and share relevant experiences.

Topics include, but are not limited to:

    Agent-based architectures for CDS

    Agent-based Middleware for CDS

Agent based distributed intelligent management for CDS.

Monitoring and control of Smart Grids

    Economic-based computing models.

    Resource Discovery and Resource Allocation

    Coordination and Cooperation services

    Adaptive monitoring (self-monitoring and self-healing).

Computational issues and integration issues within the CDS environments

    Scalability and reliability.

Privacy protection and security concerns for CDS

    Trust management

    Smart Grid and smart homes.

Applications and real-world deployments of CDS

    The conference

Innovations in Information Technology (Innovations'11), is a premier forum for the presentation and discussion of technology advances and research results in a wide range of disciplines in Information Technology (IT). This is an annual international conference organized by the Faculty of Information Technology, United Arab Emirates University (UAEU). This year, the conference will for the first time be hosted in Abu Dhabi. Innovations'11, is the seventh edition of the conference, which has been held since 2004 in the UAE (past conferences were held in Dubai and Al Ain).

The conference will feature world-renowned keynote speakers and excellent technical sessions addressing the technology landscape and current challenges and opportunities in topics including communication networks, information security, web services, high performance computing, data acquisition and processing, data mining, transportation management, and health IT and bioinformatics.

    Submission

Innovations 2011 seeks original full-length (5 pages maximum) paper proposals describing research in all areas of Information Technology that contributes to the conference theme. All papers will be peer reviewed and acceptance will be based on quality, relevance and originality. Submissions for tutorials and special sessions are also welcome. The submission guidelines can be found on the conference website:
