    6th International Workshop on

Using P2P, Grid and Agents for the Development of Content Networks

    In conjunction with

11th IEEE/ACM International Symposium on Cluster, Cloud and Grid Computing (CCGrid 2011)

May 23- 26, 2011, Newport Beach, CA, USA

    CALL FOR PAPERS

We are in the midst of an Internet computing revolution. One vision of 21st century computing is that users will access Internet services and "resource-hungry" applications (e.g., gaming, streaming media etc.) over lightweight portable devices rather than through some descendant of the traditional desktop PCs. In this context, distributing and processing Internet-based data in an efficient and cost-effective manner is a challenging issue in Internet technology. Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) have emerged to address this challenge by offering infrastructure and mechanisms to deliver content and services in a scalable manner. Nevertheless, modern applications do not just perform retrieval or access operation on content, but also create, modify and manage content, and actively place them at appropriate locations. To deal with such new requirements, more general Content Networks (CNs) are being introduced. Design and implementation of robust and efficient CNs in large-scale computing environments demand for the use of emerging paradigms and software technologies, such as Peer-to-Peer, Grid and the latest IT trend?Cloud computing. The integration of these emerging technologies in content delivery opens new perspectives in Internet technologies, raising new issues in the architecture, design and implementation of existing CDNs.

    Areas of Interest

UPGRADE-CN 2011 is intended as a forum for lively discussion of aggressively innovative and potentially disruptive ideas in all aspects of content delivery networks. The aim of this full day workshop is to capture the new research trends and results in terms of design, architecture, and applications for content and service delivery in the Internet and Clouds; optimization for Cloud-based content delivery; and performance measurement methodologies. Positions papers will be strongly favored. Specifically, the areas of interest are the following (but are not limited):

    * Cloud/Grid/P2P/Agent-based Content delivery and management on the Internet

    * Architecture for Content Delivery Clouds

    * Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications

    * Service-Level Agreements (SLAs), business models and service pricing

    * Content distribution internetworking scenarios, architectures, methodologies

    * Interoperability/portability of applications and data between different Cloud providers

    * Reliability and performance of application and service delivery in the Cloud

    * Scalable, self-managing and autonomic Content Delivery Clouds

    * Novel applications based on Cloud Computing and CNs

    Publication

The Conference Proceedings will be published by the IEEE Computer Society Press. Accepted papers will be included in the CCGrid 2011")http://www.ics.uci.edu/%7Eccgrid11/) Conference proceedings and appear in IEEE Xplorer(tm) digital library. Extended and revised versions of selected high-quality papers from the workshop will be invited for publication in a special issue in the Journal of Internet Services and Applications (JISA)")http://www.springer.com/computer/communication+networks/journal/13174).

    Submission Guidelines

Original papers from the above-mentioned or other related areas will be considered. Please submit full papers: maximum 6 pages including figures, tables, and references. Authors are requested to use the IEEE CS 8.5 X 11 Proceedings format (Available for download here")http://upgrade-cn2011.cs.ucy.ac.cy/8.5x11-Formatting_files.zip)) for submission.

Papers should be submitted electronically (PDF or Postscript) via the workshop Web site at ")http://upgrade-cn2011.cs.ucy.ac.cy. Submitted papers may not have appeared in or be under consideration for another workshop, conference or a journal, nor may they be under review or submitted to another forum during the review process. Each submission will be reviewed by at least three members of the International Program Committee
