9th Workshop on Intelligent Techniques for Web Personalization& Recommender SystemsIn conjunction with IJCAI 2011July 16, 2011 - Barcelona, Spainhttp://ls13-www.cs.uni-dortmund.de/homepage/itwp2011/index.shtml
Submission Deadline: April 10, 2011Web Personalization and recommendation systems have been steadilygaining ground as essential components of today's Web basedapplications, including in e-commerce and customer relationshipmanagement, in the delivery of business services, in providing supportfor Web search and navigation, and in reducing cognitive overload ininformation rich interactive social Web applications. Theproliferation of Web 2.0 applications has allowed users to go beyondsimple consumers of information and instead actively participate inshaping collaborative environments in which users, resources, anduser-provided content are all networked together. This, in turn hasincreased the need for more intelligent and personalized services thathelp users interact with and navigate these complex informationspaces. These include a new generation of recommender systems thatintegrate multiple online channels, are more scalable, are moreadaptive, can better handle user interactivity, and are more adept atuser preference elicitation. To achieve this, such applications mustrely on intelligent techniques from AI, machine learning, Web mining, statistics, and user modelling in order to leverage all availabledata, including the usage and click-stream data (reflecting userbehaviour), the content and meta-data associated with resources, semantic domain knowledge, user profile information, and underlyingnetwork structures. Efficient and intelligent techniques are needed tomine this data for actionable knowledge, and to effectively use thediscovered knowledge to enhance the users' experience. The aim of this workshop is to bring together researchers andpractitioners From Web Mining, Web Personalization, RecommenderSystems, and User Modeling communities in order to foster an exchangeof information and ideas and to facilitate a discussion of current andemerging topics related to the development of intelligent Webpersonalization and Recommender Systems.PAPER SUBMISSION AND PARTICIPATIONWe invite original contributions in a variety of areas related to Webpersonalization and Recommender Systems, including Data Modeling andIntegration; User Modeling and Preference Elicitation; Systems andArchitectures; Enabling Technologies; and Evaluation Methodologies,Metrics, and Case Studies. For a detailed list of topics, please see the workshop Web site:http://ls13-www.cs.uni-dortmund.de/homepage/itwp2011/index.shtml
