The 2011 Canadian Workshop on Information TheoryKelowna, British Columbia, Canada May 17-20, 2011Second Call For PapersThe 12th Canadian Workshop on Information Theory (CWIT) will be held on the campus of the University of British Columbia Okanagan, Kelowna, British Columbia in the scenic Okanagan Valley from Tuesday May 17 to Friday May 20, 2011. Papers in (but not exclusive to) the following fields of research are solicited:Shannon TheoryApplication of Information TheoryMultiuser Information TheoryQuantum Information ProcessingCoding Theory and PracticeCoded ModulationData Compression and Source CodingCommunication SystemsCooperative CommunicationCryptology and Data SecurityInformation Theory and StatisticsSignal ProcessingPattern Recognition and LearningSequences and ComplexityMulti-terminal Information TheoryData NetworksDetection and EstimationCognitive RadioAuthors wishing to have papers considered for the workshop should electronically submit their full papers (maximum four pages) in PDF format by January 15, 2011 through EDAS (http://edas.info/index.php
) using the standard IEEE two-column format. Accepted papers will be published on IEEE Xplore website and in the proceedings of the workshop. Paper acceptance will be announced on March 15, 2011. Authors of papers accepted for the workshop will be requested to submit a four-page camera-ready paper no later than April 1, 2011.The plenary speakers for CWIT 2011 will be Profs. Frank Kschischang (Toronto), Vahid Tarokh Harvard), and David Tse (UC Berkeley).On May 17, 2011, Canadian Society of Information Theory (CSIT) will sponsor a day-long School of Information Theory. Profs. Mung Chiang (Princeton) and Syed Ali Jafar (UC Irvine) have agreed to be the inaugural instructors for the first Canadian School of Information Theory.
