The Medical Image Perception Society (MIPS) was organized to encourage and promote medical image perception research and education. The medical image perception discipline seeks an improved understanding of the perceptual factors that underlie the creation and interpretation of medical images.The MIPS XIII Conference was held in October 2009 and was hosted by Craig Abbey, PhD & Miguel Eckstein, PhD from the University of California Santa Barbara.
