Computational Intelligence - a sub-branch of Artificial Intelligence - studies mostly nature inspired, adaptive mechanisms in order to enable or facilitate intelligent behavior in complex and changing environments. These mechanisms include these Artificial Intelligence paradigms that exhibit an ability to learn or adapt to new situations, to generalize, abstract, discover and associate. Usually the following paradigms are considered as part of Computational Intelligence: artificial neural networks, evolutionary computation, swarm intelligence, artificial immune systems, and fuzzy systems. Individual techniques from these Computational Intelligence paradigms, as well as combinations (hybrid methods) of these paradigms, have been applied successfully to solve a variety of real-world problems. Among them, special effort have been given to the fields of applied biology, bioinformatics and computational biology, due to their complicated natureAim of the WorkshopThe aim of this workshop is to serve as an interdisciplinary forum for bringing together specialists which use Computational Intelligence techniques to deal with real-world problems in theoretical and applied biology, bioinformatics, computational biology, chemical informatics, bioengineering and related fields. Issues related to the theory of Computational Intelligence techniques, as well as real-life applications in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology will be addressed to this workshop.Topics of InterestThe Workshop on "Computational Intelligence Applications in Bioinformatics" welcomes paper submissions introducing and implementing Computational Intelligent techniques to address various applications in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology.
